Editing levels
BASIC
Basic Editing “an error-free text”
Basic editing is for authors with near-native English. English grammar and spelling will be checked and corrected where necessary, but the text will not be rearranged or rewritten. Editing will specifically address the following issues:
* Spelling (UK or US), punctuation, capitalization, and use of italics
* Grammar issues, including word order, run-on sentences, comma splices, fragments, agreement of tenses, etc.
* Appropiate use of words, ambiguities and weaknesses in communication (indicated only)
INTERMEDIATE
Intermediate Editing “a clear message”
Intermediate editing is for authors with a good command of English who may struggle to produce a manuscript of acceptable quality. Intermediate editing extends the editing process to include:
* Natural structure and clarity of sentences
* Stylistic weaknesses such as awkward constructions, inflated sentences, etc.
* Redundancy, repetition and ambiguous statements
* Comments on the overall clarity and logic of your presentation
ADVANCED
Advanced Editing “conveying ideas”
Advanced editing is about communicating the message in your data. The style and flow of your writing can work for your message or against it.
* We will help you to communicate clearly and succinctly
* The title should grab attention and the abstract should clearly convey your central message and most important findings
* In addition, special attention will be paid to the overall layout and structure of your document

JP has worked in the field of hereditary cancer for over 20 years. A biochemist by training, JP completed his PhD at Leiden University Medical Center and has led or collaborated on numerous national and international studies of the genetics and biology of hereditary cancer. A fluent Dutch speaker for the last 30 years, JP has been a medical editor-translator for over a decade, tackling a wide range of documents including manuscripts, grant proposals, pre-proposals, medical guidelines and technical manuals.
